The Teaching & Research Support Technician is a Chemistry-focused position, supporting both research and teaching in the Chemistry Department, as part of the Science Faculty.  You will work with other members of the technical team supporting undergraduate teaching labs during terms time and working with research staff and postgraduate students out-with term time. 

In the teaching support area of your role, you will be responsible for the day to day organisation and smooth-running of the synthetic and physical chemistry teaching labs.  Ensuring that everything is in place in a timely fashion, for UG teaching labs, is key to our success, as is ensuring that academic staff are supported throughout the lab sessions.  

In the research support area of your role, you will provide support to chemistry research staff and PG students in their research laboratories.  You will also provide more general support for other chemistry related activities in our communal facilities within the Chemistry Department and elsewhere. 

The ideal candidate will have experience in technical support within a chemistry teaching and/or research environment.  A proven interest in synthetic chemistry or physical chemistry would be an advantage.  Effective time-management skills, efficiency, multi-tasking, enthusiasm and a flexible approach to work are essential.  Clear communication. an ability to problem solve and diplomacy are also extremely important for this post-holder.
