Description :

The Athena SWAN Charter was established in 2005 to encourage and recognise commitment to advancing the careers of women in science, technology, engineering, maths and medicine employment in higher education and research. In May 2015, the charter was expanded and now covers all academic disciplines as well as professional and support staff. The University has held an institutional Bronze Award since 2008 and we are proud to hold a number of Bronze and Silver Athena SWAN awards in our departments and faculties.

We are now looking for an engaging individual to join our team to project manage our next Institutional Bronze level Athena SWAN submission and four-year action plan. The successful candidate will manage the development and delivery of the University’s project plan, ensuring the November 2019 submission aligns with the University’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) strategy.

Based within the University’s EDI team, you will work closely with Athena SWAN and EDI representatives from faculties, departments and professional services as well as Chairs of the Athena SWAN Committee, the EDI Committee and the Institutional Self-Assessment Team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on an Institutional strategic priority and will be an excellent development opportunity for those seeking a secondment or someone wishing to work at Lancaster for a fixed-term. Please note this post is offered on a fixed-term basis until 31 December 2019.

You will have knowledge and experience of gender equality issues including an understanding of good practice and policy to advance careers for under-represented groups. You will possess highly effective interpersonal, influencing and communication skills (both oral and written) coupled with an ability to manage a project effectively to achieve the submission deadline. You will also be able to demonstrate experience of working successfully with Chartermarks or similar frameworks.

Informal enquiries to either Catherine Harrison, Associate Director of HR (catherine.harrison@lancaster.ac.uk; 01524 595224) or Charlotte Delaney, EDI Manager (c.delaney1@lancaster.ac.uk; 01524 595055).

We welcome applications from people in all diversity groups and we are happy to talk flexible working.
