In light of the University Strategic Plan and, in particular, the clear objective of strengthening the University's PGT provision, the role of Dean of Postgraduate Education (PGT Dean) was established in 2017.  The role has been held by Professor Duncan French who has undertaken significant work to lead the PGT agenda across the university.  Following Professor French's appointment to PVC of the College of Social Sciences, the PGT Dean role is now vacant.

The overarching function of the PGT Dean is to ensure that PGT programmes are appropriately championed across the University.  In particular, working with and reporting to the DVC (Student Development and Engagement), the Dean will:

Support the continued development of an exciting and contemporary PGT portfolio;Promote and enhance the PGT student experience;Oversee and coordinate support for academics teaching at this level through the Lincoln Academy of Learning and Teaching (LALT);Ensure that quality assurance processes, data provision and planning are strengthened for PGT programmes;Work with professional services to ensure that processes and support for PGT students is of high quality and works for them; andParticipate on behalf of the University in sector-wider initiatives on PGT provision.

The role will also be working closely with PVCs, College Directors of Education/Academic Affairs, Student Union sabbatical officers and students.
