Description :

The University of Lincoln is embarking on an exciting partnership with the University of Nottingham to provide undergraduate medical education in Lincolnshire, at scale, for the first time.  The first group of 95 medical students will begin their studies at the University of Lincoln’s Brayford Pool campus in September 2019, and the University is offering the opportunity for committed individuals to take up posts to help establish the teaching environment in the new medical school.

We are seeking to recruit part-time GP Lecturers to deliver teaching within the Early Clinical Professional Development (ECPD) element of the Professional Basis of Medicine theme. ECPD runs through the Early Years & BMedSci of the BMBS course (A10L & A18L) and involves teaching in Ethics, Communication Skills & Professionalism, and GP & hospital visits for the students. Teaching will mainly take the form of facilitating small group teaching, and there will also be responsibilities to contribute to assessment, evaluation and quality assurance of the programme.

These posts will report to the Director of ECPD and will work closely with that person and each other to ensure delivery of the relevant components of the Early Years and BMedSci University of Nottingham curriculum and to ensure the standardisation of processes and delivery of the course at Lincoln.

The posts will be based at the University of Lincoln Brayford Pool Campus, but travel to the University of Nottingham and other sites where the University of Nottingham Medicine course is delivered will also be required.

The University of Lincoln has an excellent reputation for providing an outstanding student experience, ranking 7th in the UK for overall satisfaction in the 2018 National Student Survey and 22nd overall in the Guardian University Guide 2019. Our modern campus sits beside the picturesque Brayford Pool marina, with views of the ancient castle and cathedral just beyond.

Working in new or newly-converted facilities until the new medical school building is complete in 2021, you will join a progressive, goal-oriented team of academic and professional services colleagues to deliver excellence in medical education and an outstanding student experience within the University of Nottingham’s Early Years and BMedSci medical curriculum model.

If you are looking for the challenge of establishing one of the UK’s new medical schools, with the potential to shape the hearts, minds and skills of the doctors of the future, this may be the opportunity for you.

Candidates must be on the GMC general practice register, hold a licence to practise, and be a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners.  This post is suitable for GPs who are interested in developing and consolidating a career in Medical Education.

Salary will depend on seniority.

For an informal discussion about the role please contact Dr Runa Saha, Director of ECPD at email RSaha@lincoln.ac.uk

This position does not fulfil the UK Visas & Immigration sponsorship criteria for Tier 2. Please note that this post requires an Enhanced DBS check.
