Lancaster University has a world-class reputation as a centre for excellence in teaching and research and highly ranked in each of the UK’s major university league tables. The Division of Biomedical and Life Sciences, within the Faculty of Health and Medicine, now seeks to enhance its support of research activity by appointing a Laboratory Safety Manager.

We want you to become part of a rapidly growing, innovative and vibrant Division whose research effort is directed towards understanding basic cellular and physiological mechanisms that underpin disease states. Research areas include, but are not limited to, infectious diseases, parasitology, neurodegeneration, mental health, ageing, immunology and cancer biology. You will have a good working knowledge of biomedical research, understanding of key issues and practice in biological and chemical safety, relevant experience and expertise, and be prepared to learn new skills.

We expect you to support research activity in the Division by working with academic staff, other technical staff, and students (undergraduate and postgraduate). We are looking for an individual who is enthusiastic, enjoys working with people in a busy research environment, and is keen to help us maintain and develop further a strong culture of health and safety in our workplace.
