The successful candidate will conduct work as part of the EPSRC funded research programme - Track to the Future (T2F). The role holder will work as part of a team to investigate the behaviour of railway ballast and work to find ways of improving its performance. The role holder will be responsible for large-scale experimental testing, including use of a custom-built large scale triaxial apparatus and the Railway Test Facility. This experimental work will be supported/complimented by numerical simulations.
Candidates should have a PhD (or near completion) or equivalent in Geotechnical Engineering or closely related discipline and should have extensive experimental engineering experience.
This post will be offered on a fixed-term contract until 31 May 2020. Hours of work are full-time, however job share arrangements may be considered.
