The Teaching Technician (Biology) post is based the Department of Biology and Biochemistry Department, as part of the Faculty of Science. 

You will be working with other members of a large technical team to provide teaching support to academic and research staff running undergraduate laboratories.  You will be responsible for providing technical support in our extensive Biology & Biochemistry teaching labs.  You will also support undergraduate and postgraduate students in our laboratories to ensure an excellent laboratory experience. You will ensure that practical classes are planned for, organised and set-up in an efficient and professional manner and that health and safety compliance is a priority.  

This post has a strong a strong focus on the support of plant, organism and cellular biology teaching. The ideal candidate will have experience in technical support within a biological teaching and/or research environment.  A proven interest in Cellular Biology, Plant Science, Ecology or Zoology is essential. 

Effective time-management skills, efficiency, multi-tasking, enthusiasm and a flexible approach to work are essential.  Clear communication, an ability to problem solve and diplomacy are also extremely important for this post-holder.
