The Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Bath is a leading UK department in both research and teaching, with a large, diverse, and vibrant academic staff, and a culture of inter- and intra-disciplinary collaboration and knowledge transfer with industry.  We host the successful EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Statistical Applied Mathematics (SAMBa) which bolsters the department’s recruitment of talented doctoral students. In addition, the Bath Institute for Mathematical Innovation helps businesses solve complex mathematical and statistical problems, and promotes cross-campus research activities and international collaborations.

In a concerted effort to enhance and broaden our strength in Statistics and related fields, we are seeking ambitious people with an outstanding track record of independent research of international standing who will build on existing departmental strengths, or expand our research into new areas of statistics and data science. We particularly welcome applications in the environment, genetics and evolution, public health and medicine, networks, machine learning, and uncertainty quantification. 

Salary:
Professor: Competitive Salary
Reader/Senior Lecturer: £50,132 rising to £58,089
Lecturer: £40,792 rising to £48,677

•    One position at the level of Professor, Reader or Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) in Statistics
•    One position at the level of Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Statistics

Applicants for a full Professor position must have a strong research vision, and international reputation. You should possess an excellent track record of publications and research grant acquisition, commensurate to your stage of career, and should have a keen interest in pursuing excellence in teaching and in supervising graduate students. Additional key attributes for appointment are strategic leadership abilities and the ability to influence and shape the output and success of the Statistics group at Bath and also contribute to the strategic development of the Department of Mathematical Sciences.

A successful applicant for Lecturer will have shown exceptional potential for achieving independent research of international standing.
