Description :

Lancaster University Law School is a vibrant school that combines the disciplines of Law and Criminology. Having doubled in size in four years, the School is looking to expand its activities even further. We seek up to two Senior Lecturers or Lecturers in Law. These will be offered on either a Teaching & Research or Teaching & Scholarship basis. Candidates must be able to teach at least one of: Law of Contract, Equity & Trusts and Family Law. Candidates who can teach more than one will be preferred.

The Law School is consistently ranked in the top 20 in the UK league tables, with Criminology being #1 in the Times Good University Guide. The Law School has a vibrant teaching and research culture, with increasing collaboration between colleagues from the law and criminology disciplines.

The Law School has 50 academic members of staff and is committed to having a positive impact on people's lives as well as academic excellence – over 80% of the department's research was rated as being internationally excellent or world leading in the 2014 Research Assessment Exercise. The Law School is also committed to improving the student experience and has recently developed a number of innovative employability modules that has seen us being ranked #1 in the Times Good University Guide for employability.

Staff in the School continue to benefit from Lancaster’s strong commitment at institutional and School level to the provision of an environment that encourages and supports research and scholarship. The Law School has retained a friendly, co-operative ethos that promotes collaborative working and the sharing of research and teaching experiences. Both Research and Scholarship are supported through a personal research allowance, a separate fund for participation in conferences, a structured and supported staff development programme, the allocation of a personal mentor and ongoing sabbatical leave (for both research and scholarship staff).
