Applications are invited for the above position to work with the growing Power Electronics, Machines and Control (PEMC) Research Group at the University of Nottingham.  The PEMC group has undergone a significant period of growth and now has over 150 members including 16 academics. The group has excellent facilities for experimental work including approximately 2500m2of research space and a construction and testing capability up to 1MW. 

The candidate will be expected to lead and deliver individual and collaborative research in the area of electrical machines for industrial applications. These will require generating new intellectual understanding, new research concepts and ideas, as well as their implementation through research programs and delivered research outcomes. 

Candidates must hold a PhD in electrical engineering or a relevant area with significant research experience in the electromagnetic and thermal design of electrical machines. The successful candidate should demonstrate abilities to collaborate with multidisciplinary research teams and projects including in the planning, tasking, resource management, liaison with partners and dissemination of research results. Excellent research techniques and methodologies, communication skills and the ability to be a team leader are essential for this post. Candidates must have a proven track record of research and development of electrical machines.

The University of Nottingham will host the Yunsheng Technology Centre, which is an ambitious initiative to develop highly innovative industrial motor drives. The successful candidate will take the director's post of this initiative and provide technical and operational leadership for the centre. The candidate will be expected to have strong interactions with the company and hence a requirement for frequent business travel to the company headquarters in Ningbo, China. 

This full-time post is available immediately and will be offered on a fixed-term contract for a period of 12 months. Job share arrangements may be considered.
