The Department of History seeks applications for a Assistant Professor of Modern European History with expertise in the history of an aspect of continental Europe, c. 1870-1990. We particularly welcome candidates whose research can show global, international, transnational or comparative perspectives. 

The role holder will be expected to contribute fully to the Department’s research and teaching. Candidates should have experience of outstanding teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level, a track record or trajectory of internationally excellent publications, and a clear and well-developed strategy for future research and funding bids. 

History at University of Nottingham is a large, friendly and dynamic department. We have a reputation for both world-class research and high-quality teaching, and are consistently ranked in the top twenty UK History departments. 

Candidates must have a PhD in modern European History awarded by 1st November 2019, excellent oral and written communication skills, the ability to design and deliver high quality and up-to-date course materials, experience and demonstrable success in delivering undergraduate teaching, research experience and achievement in their field, reflected in research publications, and future research plans. A higher education teaching qualification or equivalent is desirable.
