Description :

The University of Nottingham is looking to appoint a new team of Academic Development Advisers to build and enhance support to students in their academic development (AD).

Your main responsibilities will include working with our students and schools to contribute to the design and delivery of a new suite of materials relating to the key academic development competencies. You will need to develop and maintain a system for monitoring and recording how our five Faculties support and assess for AD within the curriculum and work with them to evaluate how the existing provision contributes towards our students’ outcomes. As part of your role, you will be required to support widening participation initiatives, as well as the lowering of attainment gaps and social responsibility and community building. As this is a brand new team, you will need to develop a handbook (or similar) to signpost and advocate the AD support you will offer.

In this newly created role, building meaningful partnerships across our University will be key to ensure the ongoing development of the AD provision you are a part of. As such, you will need to share good practices and advocate, promote and support the growth of academic development, including that of peer assisted study schemes, across all disciplines, whilst supporting with the administration, training and delivery once you have established it. You will be an ambassador for your team by adopting a proactive, positive and forward thinking approach to all that you do. Your approach will be pedagogy driven and there will be an inclusive practice style to your development of materials and interventions. Overall, this is an excellent and exciting opportunity to have a real impact on academic development within our University.

At the University of Nottingham, we aim to give you all the support you need to nurture your talent, develop and reach your professional and personal career goals. We are committed to providing competitive employment packages whilst supporting the well-being of our staff to help them reach their full potential. As a University employee, you will have access to a range of benefits and rewards, including leading fitness and health facilities, staff discounts and travel schemes, along with a generous holiday allowance and a highly attractive pension scheme.

This is a full time opportunity with a fixed-term contract until 31st July 2022. Due to the nature of the role, there is a non standard working pattern which will occasionally involve working evenings and weekends.

Informal enquiries may be addressed to Jennifer Rochfort, email: jennifer.rochfort@nottingham.ac.uk. Please note we will not accept applications sent directly to this email address.

Interviews will be held week commencing 11th March.
