Professor: Salary will be within Professorial range, minimum £61618 per annum

We are currently seeking applications for a Professor or Associate Professor in Anatomy, in order to further expand our influence and global reach in the area of Human Anatomy and to drive forward innovations in teaching.

The School of Life Sciences is composed of three Research Divisions and a Division of Education. 

Our Research Divisions span biological and biomedical research, focussing on:

Infections, Immunity and MicrobesPhysiology, Pharmacology and NeuroscienceCells, Organisms and Molecular Genetics

The School has strong links with the School of Medicine and the Biomedical Research Centre, the School of Physics and the Sir Peter Mansfield Imaging Centre, as well as the Schools of Biosciences, Chemistry, Engineering and Pharmacy.

These innovative positions offer an exciting opportunity to undertake academic leadership and managerial responsibilities within the School of Life Sciences in the area of Human Anatomy, providing teaching and holding responsibility for all undertakings within the Dissection Suite. This includes all associated activities in relation to body bequests in accordance with the Human Tissue Act.  

The person appointed will have a significant impact on the direction, strategy, objectives and results of the University by influencing and shaping the available resources as appropriate to meet the current and future needs of the University.

Professor

The successful candidate will have an established and nationally recognised reputation for excellence in a specialised area of Human Anatomy. You should have the ability to provide outstanding teaching, including significant experience of leadership in Anatomy teaching, and to represent the School of Life Sciences internationally.

Associate Professor

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate consistently excellent teaching across academic units with extensive experience in:

Leading on the dissemination of evidence-informed developments in curriculum deliveryCourse design and curriculum development The teaching of Human Anatomy by lectures, seminars and dissection of cadaversDifferent methods of teaching, for example, small groups, practical and problem-based

For both posts, candidates must have a PhD, or equivalent in Human Anatomy or related area, supported by extensive and high level research and teaching experience in the field of Human Anatomy as well as prior experience as Designated Individual, Person Designate or Deputy DI, under the Human Tissue Act 2004.

The individual appointed will act as Designated Individual for Human Anatomy.

This is a full-time permanent role.
