Description :

We are seeking to recruit two highly motivated and enthusiastic Research Associate/Fellows in the School of Chemistry at the University of Nottingham within the research group of Prof. Neil Champness. The successful candidates will work as part of an EPSRC-funded research programme entitled “Complex-bearing Metal-Organic Frameworks: Snapshots of Reactions”. The projects constitute part of a five-year programme of research using metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) as supports for reaction processes.

The successful candidates will investigate the synthesis of novel MOFs which are capable of binding metal-complexes within, and supported by, the framework structure. Reactions at the supported complexes will be investigated, primarily using single crystal X-ray diffraction, to provide insight into the pathways of reaction processes. The postdoctoral fellowship will be based in the School of Chemistry at Nottingham, but the successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate fully with the other partners in the research programme, including collaborators at the University of Adelaide, University of Bern and University of Texas at Austin.

Experience in aspects of MOF synthesis, metal-complex synthesis or single crystal X-ray diffraction are essential. Candidates must have a PhD (or be close to completion) in MOFs, crystal engineering, coordination/organometallic chemistry or related discipline.

This Full time post is available from January 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter and will be offered on a fixed-term contract for a period of three years. i
