This project is funded through a British Heart Foundation project grant working to develop a new treatment for peripheral vascular disease. The host laboratory, Tumour and Vascular Biology laboratories, specialise in cardiovascular, cancer, and eye disease.

The post will help develop and test a therapeutic antibody that can stimulate revascularisation of tissues after femoral artery ischemia in human and animal models, as part of a development program to humanise and affinity purify a monoclonal antibody therapy.

The research will be comprise in vivo angiogenesis and revascularisation assays in rodents and associated in vitro experiments. You should have some experience of endothelial or monocyte cell biology, immunofluorescence and imaging techniques and knowledge of endothelial cell and vascular biology as a whole. Experience in in vivo animal models of vascular disease would be an advantage, and particularly hind limb ischemia models in mice and/or rats. 

Candidates should have a PhD in relevant subject area or near completion.  

The post will be offered on a full time, fixed term contract of 24 months from commencement of employment. Job share arrangements may be considered.
