The Faculty of Engineering & Physical Sciences, (School of Engineering) seeks a highly motivated Administrative Assistant to work in the friendly and professional Administration and Assessment team.

This post presents an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated administrator to join this team who provide support for the Undergraduate and PGT (Postgraduate Taught) business processes of the student life-cycle from enrolment to graduation. The post-holder should have good customer service skills as their primary role involves manning a busy Faculty Student Office reception. Duties are varied but throughout the student life cycle you will provide support for: enrolment and induction; assessment; progression and graduation.  You will work closely with the Team Leader, Senior Administrative Officers, Administrative Officers, Academic staff and other colleagues across the University to ensure effective and professional support for all aspects of the Faculty’s student administration and assessment activities.

The Faculty’s students and staff come from a range of backgrounds both within the UK and internationally and together create a multicultural and diverse community. Excellent communication, organisational and inter-personal skills are required and you must be able to demonstrate that you can work accurately and within relevant policies and procedures. You will be an excellent team player with a proven ability to work proactively. You will be friendly, well organised and adaptable, taking a proactive approach in reviewing processes and practices. Successful applicants will be enthusiastic team players who are culturally sensitive, able to work effectively in a busy environment and show a student and applicant-centred commitment to the professional and positive delivery of education. 

Direct experience of the role described in the job description is not a prerequisite. This role offers excellent potential for career development within the organisation for the right individual and the opportunity to experience a wide range of higher education administration.

You will possess relevant academic qualifications or have some work experience. You will also have good IT skills, the ability to plan and organise your own workload, use your initiative, work well under pressure, and communicate effectively and professionally with a range of stakeholders across the organisation.  

21 hours per week - Working days will be Wednesday to Friday.
