Description :

Staffordshire University is on a journey to become the foremost modern higher education institution in the UK, with an international reputation for excellence, and we are looking for inspirational and effective people to take us to the next stage.

The University’s heritage stretches back over 100 years and throughout that time we have been rooted in our community, improving people’s lives and driving aspiration. In recent years we have become a leader in computer gaming, a major provider of degree apprenticeships and a pioneer in offering accelerated degrees that break the mould of traditional delivery.

Our transformation has been externally recognised: in 2018 we broke in to the World University rankings for the first time and were named as a top 50 UK university by the Guardian. The quality of our student experience has placed us in the top 10 for teaching quality in the Sunday Times Good University Guide 2018 and 2019 and we are on track to achieve a Gold rating in the Teaching Excellence Framework.

Many of our students come from areas with low rates of participation in higher education and we continually strive to ensure the courses we offer meet the needs of people and employers. We are expanding our non-traditional, flexible study options, particularly in apprenticeships serving the public sector.

We are driven by our values: they underpin everything we do and our colleagues live our values every day. We are daring, curious and proud of our region and people.

You will join us at a time when we begin the next step of our transformation journey. The new £40m Catalyst Building will deliver 6,500 new apprentices in the next decade, boosting both the local and national economy. The development of our offer in to new academic areas and geographic locations will see us expand our reach and make an innovative offer to a new generation of students.

We are a university of and for our community: local, national and global. If you share our values and have the skills to deliver our vision, we want to hear from you.

Based within the University Employer Partnerships Service, the post holder will work collaboratively to provide academic leadership across our six academic Schools and Service teams to support research-led innovation in the development, delivery and evaluation of flexible, blended and work-based learning and assessment.

The post holder will make a substantial contribution to developing, embedding and researching innovative, evidence-based models of learning for degree apprentices and related provision for flexible learning and skills development, working in partnership with the academic schools, Service Teams and Employer partners. This will be a key role for the success of our new Apprenticeships and Digital Skills Hub.

As a key academic leadership role, the post-holder will support the creation of a strong culture of pedagogic research and will lead innovation in practice placement and work-related learning experience for undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Educated to post-graduate level, with a Doctorate or equivalent professional standing, the successful candidate will have extensive experience of engagement with industry/ employers to develop and deliver innovative programmes of work-based learning and skills development. They will have a significant research profile including evidence of high-quality research outputs and experience of writing successful grant applications.
