We are excited to invite applications for aResearch Fellow position based in the Department of Pathology and Infectious Diseases at the University of Surrey, within the new School of Veterinary Medicine. You will be part of a team of scientists undertaking research in a vibrant, inter-disciplinary environment with a strong international reputation.
The main focus of the project will be to develop rapid and cost effective diagnostics for bacterial pathogens (Campylobacter) in collaboration with a commercial company. Therefore, the ideal candidate will have a strong background in microbiology and molecular biology. You will be an important member of a research team focused on understanding AMR and developing, and evaluating, novel alternatives to antibiotics for use in the livestock industry. This project will run in parallel with other BBSRC, EPSRC, MRC, AHRC, EU and commercially funded projects in the areas of bacterial host-microbe interactions and AMR.
You will be based in the new School of Veterinary Medicine main buildings on the Manor Park campus on the edge of Guildford, which is close to London and benefits from excellent rail, air and road connections. You will be part of a rapidly growing and dynamic department and part of a wider Faculty network of scientists. The post holder may be required to travel in the UK and abroad, and work closely with colleagues at the collaborating institutes.
