The Estates and Facilities department is looking to appoint a Facilities Supervisor based in the City Centre. The post holder will operate under the Facilities Manager and will be professional, with a flexible, committed and enthusiastic approach to customer service and facilities management whilst demonstrating the BCU core values. You will be responsible for leading a team of up to four Facilities Assistants to provide the soft FM operational service delivery within the buildings by planning daily schedules and work allocations generated from the FM helpdesk requests.  You will be people focused with a genuine desire to provide excellent customer service.  This role will focus on the delivery of soft FM services from general porterage, waste removals, office moves, general maintenance, periodic cleaning, deliveries and site emergencies.  Knowledge of buildings, maintenance and contractor works is key to working within the Campus. Key responsibilities of the role include activities which focus on: Daily you will supervise the on-site team of up to four Facilities Assistants Support the department customer service strategy and manage customer expectations through regular engagement   Providing facilities support to resolve any operational requirements and delegating tasks Regularly check the building to ensure that minor maintenance and repairs are carried out in a timely manner against FM Helpdesk requests such as events and open days Ensure that waste strategy expectations are met to increase recycling figures Comply with approved contractor management processes and procedures to enable you to assist accordingly Conduct performance dialogues regularly against the core values You will work closely with other departments such as: security and the campus cleaning provider Auditing of services, standards and compliance through building inspections and daily maintenance Being vigilant and working to the highest standard of Health, Safety and Environmental for Birmingham City University is essential Competent using Microsoft Packages To be successful in the role, candidates should have experience of working in a similar customer facing environment, be able to undertake a wide range of tasks, and can work under pressure.  Effective communication and leading a team is key within this role and will demonstrate a genuine commitment to providing a high standard of customer service, problem solving and accountability. You will also need to be able to write clear and concise and be familiar with using Microsoft Office such as Outlook.  Previously working from a FM helpdesk would be desirable.
