The University of Nottingham's Faculty of Engineering recently launched an MSc course in Additive Manufacturing and we are looking for an expert to develop and teach the AM engineers of the future as well as undertake original research to an international standard. The successful candidate will join an institution with an extremely strong research track record in the AM area with the centre of Additive Manufacturing (CfAM) encompassing a multidisciplinary and world-leading team.

The research undertaken by CfAM spans fundamental and applied research. It focuses on investigating the underpinning processes, materials and computational methods for AM, giving the potential to move beyond structural applications and create fully functional systems. 

This position is part of an exciting teaching development that complements our research capability and adds to the Faculty's portfolio of sucessful and well-respected courses. The primary purpose of the role is to conduct high quality research and teaching within the field of AM. For the teaching aspect, in particular it encompasses the design, delivery and assessment of taught material in the new MSc course including curriculum development. Any ability to teach Engineering Management subjects is an advantage.

We are looking for someone who can:

Lead original research in the field of novel materials for Additive Manufacturing.Write proposals to develop and manage new research programs.Lead and support the development of content in our AM-related courses.Plan and deliver high quality teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

The successful candidate will have a PhD in a relevant science or engineering subject, preferably in an additive manufacturing related field. We are looking for someone with excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex information with clarity. Candidates must be self-starting and pro-active, with the demonstrated ability to work alone or in a team to meet deadlines and to prioritise tasks. Further requirements include a demonstrable interest in curriculum development and undergraduate teaching/learning and ability to engage constructively with students.

This is a permanent, full time post available from 1st June 2019.
