The Department of Mathematics and Statistics has recently undertaken a full administrative review in order to deliver enhanced support to students and staff. This resulted in the creation of a number of new positions which has enabled the department to offer a significantly improved service, with the focus on a team approach.

The department has over 70 academic and research staff and over 50 research students. Ranked joint 5th in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework and 5th in the 2019 Guardian League Table, Lancaster is one of the UK’s top departments for Mathematics and Statistics. The University is the 2018 University of the Year, according to The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide, so it is an exciting time to join us.

In these roles, you will be a key member of Professional Services staff who is effective and contributes to the departments’ strategic direction. You will be a part of a growing team whose members are forward thinking and advocates of customer service. This exciting new opportunity would be suitable for someone with experience of working in a busy and thriving environment, preferably within the Higher Education sector. 

You should be numerate, have excellent organisational, administrative, IT and interpersonal skills, be able to juggle a busy workload, and have an enthusiasm for the role. You will be part of a team which is responsible for providing a high-level administrative service that supports all aspects of degree programmes offered by the department. You will work with the Student Programmes Officer to provide support in quality assurance, timetabling and assessment. This varied and challenging role offers wide scope for personal and professional development. 

This is a full time, indefinite post, available for an immediate start.
