Clinical Professor/Clinical Associate Professor in Clinical Immunology and Allergy (PROF016719)

As the successful candidate, you will make a significant contribution to research and leadership in the Academic Research Division of Infections, Immunity and Microbes and to teaching in the area of Clinical Immunology. Your role will have a 50% split between undertaking Clinical duties for the Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust and activity for the University of Nottingham in the field of Clinical Immunology and Allergy.

You will join a well-established, friendly Clinical Immunology and Allergy team consisting of 3 Immunology consultants, one Allergy consultant, 4 nurse specialists and 2 StRs. The NHS clinical aspect of your role will include seeing and managing patients in out-patient clinics, occasional ward consultations, clinical liaison with other specialities and MDT meetings, along with the interpreting and authorising of results within the Immunology laboratory. 

As our Professor/Associate Professor, you will participate in the organisation, management and strategic planning in the Academic Research Division of Infections, Immunity & Microbes. You will also contribute to the School and University’s strategic planning processes as well as acting as our principal investigator on major research projects in the broad area of immunity and infectious agents in health and disease.  

This post will provide you with an exciting opportunity for the further development and expansion of your research programme, offering excellent opportunities for developing collaborative links with centres of excellence within the Faculty, University, as well as nationally and internationally, alongside facilitating links with clinical colleagues across acute and community based services.  You may have some line management responsibilities and will contribute to the professional development and mentoring of members of the Infections, Immunity & Microbes research division.

The School has strong links with the School of Medicine and the Biomedical Research Centre, the School of Physics and the Sir Peter Mansfield Imaging Centre, as well as the Schools of Biosciences, Chemistry, Engineering and Pharmacy. 

Candidates must hold a PhD/MD or equivalent in a relevant subject area, as well as holding full and specialist registration with the General Medical Council or be eligible for registration within six months of interview.

Whilst this is a full-time, permanent role, there is flexibility for you to work part-time (minimum of 0.6 FTE).
