The Department of Modern Languages and Cultures based within the School of Cultures, Languages and Area Studies is one of the UK's largest modern language units; covering six European languages, Chinese and Translation Studies. Our undergraduate degree programmes offer language study from beginners’ level in all our languages and we have a large postgraduate community, made up of UK and international students.

Applications are invited for the role of Assistant Professor in Translation Studies based in the iconic Trent building on University Park campus. The successful candidate will carry out research and teaching in Translation Studies at both undergraduate and postgraduate level alongside associated administrative duties, contributing to the overall development of the department.

Candidates must have a PhD (completed or near completion by the start of the post) in Translation Studies, native or near-native competence in French and English, and demonstrable knowledge of translation theory. Candidates should have excellent communication skills, be able to work collaboratively and have experience of teaching translation at undergraduate and / or postgraduate level along with experience of producing high-quality research indicative of a strong future REF return.
