SCHOOL OF POLITICS, HISTORY AND INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS (PHIR)

PHIR is a multidisciplinary school in the social sciences with undergraduate programs in International Relations and International Relations with languages, an MA program in International Relations and an MSc in International Development Management, and a doctoral programme. 

PHIR seeks to make a full-time appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in the field of Development Studies. The appointee will teach at the UG and PGT levels and will need to have in-the-field experience with development projects.

Specific courses include:

Food, Hunger and DevelopmentIntroduction to International DevelopmentField TechnologiesCivil Society and Global Development

Candidates who are also able to teach the following will be given preference:

Environmental politics

Job Responsibilities:

Teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levelSupervising of undergraduate and postgraduate students and dissertationsDeveloping a successful research agendaDevelopment/updating of programmes and production/revision of course informationUndertaking committee memberships and administrative rolesEngaging in community serviceAny other duties that arise with respect to the efficient running of the School

Job Requirements:

The applicant will have completed a doctoral degree in the relevant subject areasAble to teach Development Studies. Preference will be given to those who are also able to teach environmental politics.Tertiary level teaching experienceHigh level of English verbal and written communicationFamiliarity with online teaching toolsAbility to work collegially and collaboratively with peersDisciplined approach to the recurring deadlineAn established record of research leading to publications is expected at the Associate Professor level

This position is available from 15 August 2019 and salaries are competitive within the Malaysian context.
