Lancaster University's Ultralow Temperature Physics research group invites applications for a Senior Post Doctoral Research Associate. The role will involve working with members of the group to develop and implement a novel cooling technique utilising nuclear demagnetisaton of 3He localised on the surface of highly porous materials.

You will have access to world-class facilities which include: the cooling machines, infrastructure, instrumentation and technical support of the Ultralow Temperature group; state-of-the-art nanofabrication facilities in the Quantum Technology Centre cleanrooms; and IsoLab, a new ultra-quiet controlled environment laboratory.

You will hold a PhD in experimental condensed matter physics or a related discipline, with a strong background in ultralow temperature physics. The post is initially being offered for 12 months starting in September 2019, though with the possibility of further extension.
