Category: Technical | Faculty/Division: Faculty of Computing, Engineering and the Built Environment | School: Computing and Digital Technology | Department: Computing and Digital Technology | Location: City Centre Campus (Millennium Point) | Post Type: Full Time | Closing Date: 17 Mar 2019 | We are looking to appoint a software developer to work with our Mixed Reality and Human Computer Interaction (HCI) Group at Digital Media Technology Lab (DMT Lab) in the Faculty of Computing, Engineering and the Built Environment. The Mixed Reality and HCI Group researches a range of new and exciting applications in HCI, Mixed Reality (MR), Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR). The group specialises in understanding and defining new methods and modes of interacting with computer systems via new sensor systems and current AR and VR hardware. The role: To support, develop and maintain new and existing bespoke AR software solutions (using predominantly Unity game engine) for current industry projects using current AR hardware. Design and create reference applications and APIs to showcase and encapsulate our research contributions in HCI for AR and VR. Develop and expand our existing AR interactive systems and demo portfolio. Maintain a high-quality codebase The ideal candidate will have excellent technical development skills and should be willing to work as part of a tightly knit, innovative group of highly motivated individuals. You may hold a degree in engineering or computer science or equivalent professional experience in applied Computer Science, HCI, Digital Media Technology, IT or other related discipline. Skills required: Essential: Experience of working with game engines (preferably Unity) Highly competent in C# Strong programming background in other relevant languages (JavaScript, Python) Good knowledge of augmented reality, virtual reality and other related emerging technologies Working knowledge of source control, namely Git Excellent communication skills   Desirable: Experience working with Sensor Systems Working knowledge of database management and data analysis Other skills such as UX/UI design, 3D modelling skills For details of how to apply please visit our website athttps://jobs.bcu.ac.uk/ and attach a CV and cover letter Birmingham City University has an index linked contributory pension scheme.
