University of Nottingham Ningbo China, a pioneer in Sino-foreign tertiary education, is rapidly expanding. It is looking for ambitious, talented academics with a passion for teaching as well as research flair to join its team of science and engineering experts. UNNC is part of the University of Nottingham’s Global University, and offers unique teaching and research opportunities in a highly dynamic economy.


Applications are invited for the above post in the Faculty of Science & Engineering which is one of the newest divisions at the University but is expected to become one of the biggest as the University rolls out its detailed, long term plans. The University expects to triple its number of engineering students to over 3,000 within the next few years. The first intake of UNNC engineering students graduated in 2012 and Master of Science degrees will be offered in a range of subjects in the near future. 


Candidates must have a PhD degree and preferably postgraduate degree (or equivalent) in a relevant architecture, architectural design, or urban design; and with excellent communication and presentation skills in English. Knowledge and experience of preferably postgraduate degree (or equivalent) in a relevant architecture are necessary. Experience of supervising PhD and Master students and experience of teaching, tutorial or computer laboratory work at undergraduate and postgraduate level in an international English speaking institution are preferable.


The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to teaching and curriculum development for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes of Architecture, particularly in the modules of architectural humanities (history and theory) and design studio teaching. The successful candidate should also play a role in research streams of the Centre for Sustainable Energy Technologies (CSET), as well as playing a lead role in collaborative research projects and conduct ongoing original research and publications in the areas of architecture, architectural design, urban design, and digital architecture. The successful candidate will also become the associate member of the CSET.


Salary will be within the range of £36,261 – £48,677 per annum depending on skills and experience (salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance). In addition, an attractive package including accommodation allowance, travel allowance and insurance will be provided for international appointments.


The post will initially be offered on a fixed term contract with the University of Nottingham Ningbo China for a period of 5 years starting September 2019. This contract may be extended on an indefinite basis by mutual agreement.
