Join a unique British University in China. University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) was the first Sino-foreign university to open in China. This award-winning campus offering a UK style education has grown to establish a student body of nearly 8,000 in just 14 years. Ningbo in Zhejiang, China is a rapidly growing, modern city with more than six million people and a 7,000 year history allowing visitors to embrace both an exciting and culturally stimulating city. Known as one of China’s most livable and prosperous cities, Ningbo is connected by high speed rail and an international airport making it an ideal location from which to explore China and Eastern Asia. The city has abundant green parks and is surrounded by picturesque mountains and natural lakes. Ningbo lies across the Hangzhou Bay from Shanghai and is one hour by train to the scenic city of Hangzhou.

The Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering has a strong globalization agenda and is strongly linked between the UK, Malaysian and China campuses. The curriculum and degrees awarded from all three University of Nottingham campuses are equivalent. From the 2019 QS World University Rankings, the University of Nottingham is ranked 82nd in the world. The University of Nottingham is also highly ranked in employer reputation being in the top 100 universities in the world and the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering was rank #1 in the UK in the Guardian League Tables.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to teaching and curriculum development for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and to supervise undergraduate and masters dissertations. The person appointed will be expected to conduct original research in an appropriate field and play a leading role in collaborative research projects, leading to both high quality publications and grant income. The successful candidate will also be expected to assist with the administration of the Department and thus contribute to enhancing the Department’s excellent reputation in the field of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. 

Salary will be within the range of £51,630 to £61,618 per annum depending on skills and experience (salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance) In addition, an attractive package including accommodation allowance, travel allowance and insurance will be provided for international appointments.

The post will initially be offered on a fixed term contract with the University of Nottingham Ningbo China for a period of five years starting September 2019. This contract may be extended on an indefinite basis by mutual agreement.
