Library Services play an important role in our vibrant community. The Director will identify, develop and implement successful innovations at the strategic level to make a measurable impact on the experience of students and academics at the University- and ensure the Library remains in the vanguard of the UK higher education sector 

This is an exciting time to be joining Lancaster as it begins phase 3 of the redevelopment of the existing Library building (with an agreed budget of £11M) due to complete in December 2020. This phase of the redevelopment will encompass an extension of 2600 m2 and will include; 

400+ additional study spaces 

spaces to support scholarly communications, collaborative research, exhibitions and events 

You will have a track record of shaping and delivering strategy within a research library or comparable complex organisation at a senior level. An extensive knowledge of UK higher education and the key issues facing libraries in the areas of research and learning and teaching provision will be essential. You will be an inspirational leader, adept at building relationships and networks and an experienced budget manager with the ability to motivate and lead teams through a rapidly changing and digitally innovative landscape. You will work closely with peers from across the institution to ensure cohesive collaborative working.
