The College of Science currently consists of eight Schools and a Department; Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering, Geography, Life Sciences, Mathematics & Physics, the National Centre for Food Manufacturing, Pharmacy and the Lincoln Institute of Agri-Food Technology.  The College, which is driving world-leading developments in autonomous systems, agri-food technology, medical vision, power and energy, biosciences, flood risk assessment and climate change impacts, is going through a period of rapid development and change.

The College is seeking to appoint a Senior Operations Officer to proactively support the College Director of Operations including, where appropriate, issuing direction and guidance to Admin Team Colleagues.  The post holder will also provide an element of administrative support to the College Directors of Research and Teaching including scheduling, preparing and issuing papers and agendas, advising on matters of procedure and arranging appropriate follow-up action, arranging travel, external event attendance, internal event organisation and initiatives.

The work of the College Director of Operations and the HE sector is subject to continual and rapid change. As challenges emerge the post holder will be required to be flexible, responsive and pro-active to meet the changing priorities and pressures this environment generates.  This will include being pro-active in taking the initiative in dealing with issues in the context of the College Director as they arise.  The role holder will also be expected to acquire a sound level of knowledge of the complexities dealt with by the College Director of Operations and a working knowledge of the activities of the College of Science, their complex activities and the University at large.  The role requires significant levels of confidentiality, discretion and judgement at all times

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a highly collaborative style with the ability to command the respect of colleagues across all levels of the Institution.  Working as part of a highly motivated team, they will be able to use their initiative, prioritise workload and have the ability to cope in a dynamic and challenging environment.
