Description :

The Energy Storage Group at Lancaster University is looking to employ a research associate at the postdoctoral level for a period of 6 months. You will be in charge of supporting Lancaster’s battery modelling activities with validating / underpinning experiments.

Beyond “standard” battery testing (galvanostatic charge/discharge, GITT, …), we expect you to demonstrate the value of High-Precision Coulometry and Thermodynamic Analyses (Entropy Profiling). A particular focus will be on thermodynamic and kinetic details of graphite anodes.

Your work will contribute to some research projects that Energy Lancaster is involved in, such as the Innovate UK funded “UK Niche Vehicle Battery Cell Supply Chain” (led by AGM batteries) and the “Multi Scale Modelling” consortium (led by Imperial College) of the UK Faraday Institution.

You should hold a PhD in Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, or a related discipline. We expect experience with high-precision electrochemistry, thermodynamic/calorimetric analyses of electrochemical cells, and some knowledge in the fundamentals on the modelling of electrochemical processes.

Surrounded by three national parks and the Irish Sea, Lancaster is a great place to work and live. We are committed to family-friendly and flexible working policies on an individual basis, as well as the Athena SWAN Charter, which recognises and celebrates good employment practice undertaken to address equality issues in higher education and research. We warmly welcome applications from people in all diversity groups.
