Category: Academic | Faculty/Division: Faculty of Business, Law and Social Sciences | School: School of Law | Department: School of Law | Location: City Centre Campus | Post Type: Part Time | Closing Date: 30 Jun 2019 | We are seeking to appoint two Subject External Examiners for the Postgraduate Diploma in law and LLM in Professional Law one of whom we need to oversee the programme as chief external examiner. This programme is based within the School of Law, Faculty of Business, Law and Social Sciences. The appointments will commence January 2020 and the tenure of appointments is for a period of four years. All External Examiner appointments are subject to approval by the University Academic Board. Role Requirements: Comment on the content of the subject area particularly with regard to subject benchmarks Examine assessment briefs, exam papers and student work  to ensure academic standards and achievements of students are comparable with those in other UK higher education establishments of which the external examiner has experience Provide informative comment and recommendations on whether the assessment process measures student achievement rigorously and fairly against the intended outcomes of the programme/s and is conducted in line with the relevant policies and regulations Attend examination board/s and submit an annual report Engage in communication with the academic and programme team Please note that External Examiners are required to engage with assessment of both theory and practice elements of the programme where relevant. Previous experience as an External Examiner is not necessary as the University is able to provide mentorship to the successful applicants. We are looking for External Examiners to cover the following modules (note there are two vacancies so it is not crucial to cover all of these subjects): Law of Obligations (Contract & Tort) Criminal Law Public Law Law of the EU Property Law (Land & Equity) Independent Research Projects Legal Method (English Legal System) Advanced Legal Research Methods Dissertation/Live Project/Placement Please note that this role is not capable of sponsorship under Tier 2 of the points based system On occasions where we receive a large number of applications, we may close the advert ahead of the publicised closing date.
