Description :

The University is seeking to appoint a Procurement Category Manager to join its Procurement Team. The role is available on a full-time basis of 37 hours per week. However, for the right candidate, part-time hours of a minimum of 28 hours per week will also be available if this is preferred.

The Procurement Category Manager will be responsible for acting as the procurement lead on a range of diverse projects. The post holder will initially focus on the external Professional Services and corporate contracts category. However, specific experience in these categories is not essential and the post-holder will need to be flexible across categories. The role is primarily focused on tendering a wide range of contracts, although there will also be some contract implementation and management responsibilities.

To be successful, you will need to be able to quickly develop effective and productive working relationships with colleagues from the University’s Colleges and Professional Service Areas. Good working relationships with internal stakeholders and the identification of mutually acceptable solutions will be key success factors for this post.

The role requires a highly-motivated, experienced and professional individual. You will also need to be a self-starter who is capable of working independently and taking a meticulous approach to the drafting of procurement and contract documentation. This is a challenging role, but you will benefit from working within a supportive team environment and receive ongoing skills development.

As the University is subject to public procurement, recent experience of working under the constraints of public procurement law is required. Candidates will also need to possess a relevant procurement qualification, such as MCIPS.
