Research Fellow (HERI010B)

The Lincoln Higher Education Research Institute (LHERI) was established to undertake and facilitate research that makes a significant and innovative contribution to knowledge and understanding in Higher Education policy and practice.  The Institute currently leads on a number of externally funded and internally commissioned projects including the Office for Students Learning Gain project, two research initiatives funded through the National Collaborative Outreach Programme (NCOP) LiNCHigher project, the University of Lincoln's contribution to a collaborative HEFCE (OfS) Catalyst funded 'Addressing barriers to student success' project, and the evaluation of the University of Lincoln's Access and Participation Plan.

As well as delivering funded projects, LHERI aims to develop expertise and impact at an institutional level through guidance and support to colleagues and by facilitating effective internal and external partnerships.  By bringing together researchers from across the University, exploring any aspect of higher education, the Institute works to strengthen capacity, disseminate and share practices, provide support, and pursue collaborative internal and external research partnerships.  This includes building a networked community of higher education researchers, including internal and external colleagues, as Fellows of the Institute as well as making internal funding available to pump prime small research projects through an internal awards scheme.  In order to support the publication and dissemination of higher education research, the Institute has also established a peer-reviewed on-line research journal that was launched in early 2017.

This role will support and lead research and development activities across the institute.  The Research Fellow will focus on areas of strategic importance to the university such as student engagement, transition and differential attainment.  Small projects will be carried out under the direction of the DVC (SD&E).  The Research Fellow will need to be familiar with quantitative and qualitative methodologies, and be capable of managing large data sets and producing reports for different audiences.  Grant application experience and project management skills are essential.
