Description :

Lancaster Medical School seeks to appoint a Lecturer in Sports Psychology to develop the capability and capacity to deliver teaching, learning and assessment in Sports and Exercise Science with a focus on Sports Psychology.

You will work with the Director of Sports Science, and a growing team active in the Sports and Exercise Science domain, to develop, and contribute to the delivery of, a new undergraduate Sports and Exercise Science degree scheme which was launched by Lancaster Medical School in October 2018. You will also contribute more generally to teaching in Lancaster Medical School.

As part of a strategic approach to growth, Lancaster Medical School is increasing the number of students admitted to the MBChB degree, and has launched a new degree scheme in Sports and Exercise Science. Delivered from Lancaster Medical School, with contributions from across the Institution and beyond, the Sports and Exercise Science degree scheme will use the expertise of a wide range of colleagues to deliver a sector leading degree scheme. You will have the opportunity to make a significant contribution to the development and design of the curriculum of this new scheme, and will lead the delivery of Sports Psychology modules.

The Faculty strategy has teaching and research collaborations with NHS colleagues as a priority, and you will have the opportunity to develop your research activity and contribute to teaching, learning and assessment in collaboration with clinical and academic colleagues with a very wide range of expertise.

The Faculty provides a research environment that strongly supports the individual needs of each employee, promoting a healthy work-life balance. We are committed to family-friendly and flexible working policies on an individual basis, as well as the Athena SWAN Charter, which recognises and celebrates good employment practice undertaken to address gender equality in higher education and research.

Associated with the Sports and Exercise Science degree is a newly built Human Performance Laboratory which is part of an extension to the Sports Centre located on the Lancaster University campus. Other related infrastructure developments include the Health Innovation Campus being built on the Lancaster University estate to which Lancaster Medical School will relocate.

Informal enquiries can be made to Dr Bob Lauder (Director of Sports Science) or Dr Gill Vince (Acting Head of Lancaster Medical School).

This post is available immediately. Part-time/flexible working would be considered.
