Description :

Edge Hill Students’ Union is a membership organisation – everything we do here is shaped by students and supported by a team of staff.  We have an ambitious new strategic plan which seeks to create the best student experience we can for as many students as possible, and we’re here to make sure ALL Edge Hill student voices are heard, valued and acted upon.

To ensure that this happens, we oversee a student representation framework that encompasses hundreds of students, ranging from volunteers at programme and faculty level to full-time Student Officers elected through our annual elections process. As our Representation and Democracy Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in developing our existing representative and democratic processes, empowering Edge Hill students to create positive, meaningful change that enhances their time at university.

Working as part of our Membership Services team and supporting our elected Student Officers, you will be responsible for the administration of our student representation system, our newly created Student Council, and our annual elections. A confident and creative communicator, you will also develop and deliver training and resources to representatives to enable them to become more effective in their role. In addition, you will be expected to undertake research and produce written reports, in order for us to better understand the priorities of our members, apply influence and achieve change across the university.

Possessing excellent knowledge of current issues affecting students in Higher Education, you must be able to work effectively with students from a wide range of backgrounds, while also developing positive working relationships with key university staff and relevant external stakeholders. In doing so, you will help ensure that Edge Hill students are active partners in and co-creators of their university experience, while also contributing to the enhancement of our wider membership activity.
