The School of Computer Science at the University of Lincoln has a new opportunity for a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in the area of HCI and Playful Technologies to join our team. The successful candidate will help to expand our growing body of research in this area, work within the Interactions Lab (intLab) research group, and be a member of our newly formed interdisciplinary Games Research Network (http://games.lincoln.ac.uk). Duties will also include the development and delivery of our undergraduate and postgraduate curricula, including a new MSc in Games Development & Design. 

The intLab research group at Lincoln is characterised by a strong interdisciplinary perspective, and encompasses themes including HCI, games, virtual and augmented reality, accessibility, civic engagement, and child-computer interaction. We have a proven track record of producing engaging research and high-quality outputs, and we also lead the Lincoln Games Research Network (http://games.lincoln.ac.uk/) in collaboration with academics from a range of Schools across various Colleges, including Performance, Media, Psychology and Design. Our group provides a mutually supportive and collaborative working environment, within which the appointed post holder will be able to actively contribute to the ongoing success of the School of Computer Science through the generation of high-quality research outputs, grant income, and our submission to the next Research Excellence Framework (REF) exercise.

Whilst this position is research focussed, the post holder will also contribute to teaching activities: we run successful and expanding undergraduate programmes in Computer Science and Games Computing, and a number of Master’s programmes including an MSc in Games Development & Design. There are a number of opportunities to contribute across this portfolio of programmes, though we expect that the successful candidate will be particularly well-placed to deliver games-focussed teaching and activities. There are also opportunities to develop new modules and programmes, and to help us build exciting and appealing curricula for our future students.      

The School operates through a notional workload allocation model of 40% teaching, 40% research, and 20% administration. For early careers academics as new recruits, the administrative duties are kept to a minimum throughout the induction period. Lecturers are expected to develop their craft as a teacher and the University provides support for those new to lecturing. This includes mentorship, professional development guidance and support towards achieving HEA qualification. The post holder will also carry out additional activities in support of the academic mission of the School, which will include the pastoral support of undergraduate and postgraduate students.
