We are looking for a senior member to join the digital team within the School of Computing and Communications, supporting a new Cyber Security based programme at Lancaster University.  You will work within a team supervising technical collaborations with small business to develop new digital product and service concepts with a cyber security focus.You will supervise and guide Analyst Developers, working with business clients from conception to the development of digital prototypes, following good cyber security practice along the way.The project provides a research and development service to small business, allowing the exploration of new product ideas at a reduced risk.

You will need to be able to demonstrate a range of practical technical experience in software development and programming with the ability to contribute to development and consultancy projects as needed.  No two client projects will be the same so the successful candidate must have the flexibility to adapt and quickly adopt new technical skills and approaches.  A sound working knowledge of secure development practices would be advantageous and you will be expected to contribute to the development of team processes regarding cyber security.  The role is part of a unique offering to small businesses and is not a typical development position.   The role offers a chance to gain experience in a range of projects incorporating cyber security best practice and would perhaps suit a developer looking to move into a more senior role.

Good communication skills are essential as is the ability to work with business to assess their requirements.  You will be creative in supporting business to innovate and develop new products and services through the application of the relevant digital technology.  The job will also include the mentoring of graduate developers in their professional development.  The ability to travel to meetings at client company locations throughout the region is essential.

This is a full-time fixed term post until September 2021 and is part-financed by the European Regional Development Fund.
