We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic post-doctoral researcher with appropriate experience in rural/environmental policy and/or nutrient management to join an enthusiastic team at Lancaster as part of the project ‘Exploring opportunities for circular nutrient economies in grassland farming systems’. 

This project seeks to understand current incentives and barriers to the adoption of circular nutrient economies within grassland farming systems. Through literature review and interviews with key sector stakeholders (farmers, waste/by-product producers and waste management specialists) the project aims to explore four key areas:

1. Understand current uses and perceptions of secondary nutrient sources within the grassland farming sector.

2. Review the information landscape behind current guidance and knowledge flows for best practice on the use of secondary nutrient sources.

3. Clarify key regulation and policy areas that promote or inhibit the development of circular nutrient economies.

4. Highlight technical and socio-economic opportunities for the future development of circular economies.

We welcome applications from people in all diversity groups. Preferred candidates for this post will have a relevant background in rural/environmental policy and a good understanding of qualitative research techniques. You will have excellent written and oral communication, organisational, and research skills and have enthusiasm for working with key rural stakeholders.

This is a fixed term post, 0.6 FTE for 6 months
