Description :

The Department for Health is seeking to appoint a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Sport Management. Particular areas of expertise may include the economics of sport, sport organisations, sport finance, sport marketing and promotions, event management, leadership, leisure management, and/or other topics related to sport management.

Our Department is a vibrant community providing excellent opportunities for academic teaching and research. Our strengths as a Department include the opportunity for interdisciplinary work and as such we take a collaborative approach within the Department, with other Departments within the University of Bath, and external partners and stakeholders.

Our research is organised around three themes: Lifelong Health and Wellbeing, Improving Human Function, and a Fair and Vibrant Society. In the most recent Research Excellence Framework exercise (REF2014), we returned staff across three Units of Assessment, ranking 5th (Sport & Exercise Science), 6th (Allied Health Professions) and 6th (Social Policy) in terms of research quality, with ~90% of our outputs rated as world-leading or internationally excellent (i.e. 3-4*).

We teach across a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes related to health, exercise and sport. The University of Bath was named Sports University of the Year 2018, and our Sport & Exercise Science related programmes ranked 2nd by the Guardian and Complete University Guide 2019. The successful candidate’s teaching commitments will lie predominantly with the BSc Sport Management & Coaching undergraduate degree.

The Department for Health are dedicated to providing a supportive and inclusive environment for our staff and students. We hold a Bronze Athena SWAN award in recognition of our ongoing commitment to gender equality.
