Description :

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated, agile Careers professional to lead a team of experienced Careers staff to develop and deliver innovative and sustainable careers, employability and work related learning across the institution.

You will lead the Careers Faculty Engagement team to work closely with Associate Deans, Heads of Departments and academic staff to design, deliver and assess career and employability education and work related learning at undergraduate and postgraduate level on campus and via distance learning.

You will be an excellent negotiator with the ability to interpret and communicate internal management intelligence and external graduate labour market information to develop effective working partnerships with academic colleagues, and agree departmental career and employability plans. You will be confident in negotiating levels of provision and measureable targets in line with institutional strategy, and ensuring that these are met in the time agreed. You will need to demonstrate innovation, creativity, evidence of digitisation and digital solutions to meet increasing demand for careers and employability input in departments with existing resources.

Educated to degree level or equivalent, and ideally with both a Careers and HE teaching qualification, you will be highly experienced in strategically and operationally leading the teaching of careers, employability and work related learning in HE. Your experience will include the design, delivery and assessment of accredited modules in the curriculum that is tailored to the programme and level of study.

You will possess excellent organisational and communication skills and the ability to prioritise a demanding and varied workload. Interpersonal skills and an ability to work with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders are essential as you will lead the employability training and sharing practice programme for Academic Employability Champions. You will strategically lead your team’s engagement with employers, alumni, and work closely with departmental academic colleagues to ensure an appropriately prioritised and differentiated approach to careers and employability provision. You will embrace our team culture and be demonstrably willing to volunteer across teams and services to support colleagues and enhance your own professional development.

You will have an innovative, engaging and effective professional approach. Your previous experience will have equipped you for adapting flexibly to this role and you will be someone who thrives on change and seeks new challenges. Occasional out of hours work will be required. Some national and international travel may also be required.

This is to be appointed on a full time, fixed term basis until 14 February 2020 in the first instance.
