Join a unique British University in China. The University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) was the first Sino-foreign university to open its doors in China. This award winning campus offering a UK style education has grown to establish a student body of over 7,000 in just 15 years. 


Since the development of the Nottingham-Ningbo campus in 2004, the Centre for English Language Education (CELE) has aimed to promote high quality EAP teaching in its structure and support of academic programmes delivered in China.  With over 100 academic staff, the CELE operation at UNNC is now one of the largest of its kind in the world and is currently supporting over 6000 students on its Preliminary Year, Pre-Sessional and Academic Literacy Development Centre programmes.


Preliminary Year Programme

The Preliminary Year Programme is offered to students in their first year of study at UNNC and represents 120 academic credits. The programme is currently a 50-50 split between modules focusing on specific academic subjects and modules focusing on the development of English Language skills. Successful completion of the Preliminary Year is a pre-requisite for progression to the second year of study.

The successful candidates will be expected to contribute to teaching and curriculum development for Preliminary Year modules in Mathematics. Experience in teaching and developing materials for Computer Science and Physics modules will also be an advantage. 

Applications are invited from suitably qualified teaching professionals able to offer experience and expertise in Mathematics, Computer Science and Physics. Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree and preferably a post graduate degree (or equivalent) in Mathematics or relevant field.

Salary will be within the range RMB 364,507 – RMB 435,242 per annum (pro rata for fractional post), depending on skills and qualifications, salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance. An attractive package, including accommodation allowance, flights and insurance will be provided for international appointments.

The posts are available from September 2019, initially to be offered on fixed-term contract with the University of Nottingham Ningbo China for a period of up to three years.
