Your discipline. Your passion. Our success, together.

About You

An NMC registered healthcare practitioner in the field of Learning Disability Nursing and an experienced educationalist, you will have an excellent track-record in teaching, responding to nursing workforce challenges and experience of leading academic programmes and/or projects. You will have an excellent understanding of professional regulatory requirements and the ability to embed these effectively within the curriculum.

You will have an excellent reputation for providing support for learning, understand the need for relevant clinical learning experiences and can propose innovative solutions to ensuring these are provided for all students. You will be able to demonstrate effective collaborative working with external stakeholders across the public and private health and social care sectors. Therefore, you will have a reputation for working collaboratively with colleagues in a clear, responsive and transparent manner.

You will have studied for a Masters degree (or higher).

A creative, dynamic and inspirational educator you will thrive in an environment that embraces change and seeks improvement at every opportunity. You will also be well organised, with excellent communication, networking and relationship-building skills.

About the Role

This role is based upon our excellent achievements and growth to date; with further growth predicted in the next 5 years. We recognise the need to strengthen our nurse education department further in times of rapid change and this role will span across the nurse education portfolio, which has been ranked in the top ten for practice-based learning in the National Student Survey. We have a strong positive reputation of responding to national agendas; recently demonstrated by being awarded the pilot for the Nurse First initiative on behalf of the Chief Nurse for England. This pilot project focusses on the need to develop leaders of the future within the fields of Mental Health and Learning Disabilities Nursing.

Your role will be to actively participate in the delivery of all nursing education programmes and contribute to the continued enhancement and leadership of contemporaneous curricula, research and ultimately an excellent student experience. This is a key role within the Department of Nurse Education, where you will be able to role model academic expertise i.e. teaching and research, and through personal leadership harness the energy and expertise of colleagues to maintain and enhance the current programmes. Your Learning Disability Nursing expertise will actively contribute to our preparation for the new pre-registration nursing programmes in line with the NMC standards and Educational Framework (2018) due to commence delivery in 2020. As a contemporary Learning disability nursing academic, you will be enthusiastic and proactive in developing your own teaching expertise, your research profile as well as engagement with innovation and enterprise projects.  A particular focus of the role will be in ensuring the field of learning disability nursing remains current and dynamic. You will be strongly supported in all these developments by an experienced senior management team and will work closely with the Head and Deputy Head of Department as well as the Associate Dean.

Make no mistake, this is an opportunity to build your academic profile as you help to build ours, on a regional, national and international level.
