The Department of Social and Policy Sciences at the University of Bath is currently recruiting for a Social and Policy Sciences Outreach Officer. The successful candidate will have experience of working in the secondary education sector and/or a track record of undertaking outreach in schools.

In this role, you will use your knowledge and expertise in social sciences to support and develop outreach projects and activities to encourage under-represented groups to apply to Bath. You will be joining a team of outreach officers across the University based in a number departments. 

Reporting jointly to the Department and the Widening Participation (WP) Office you will work on a number of University-wide programmes such as On Track to Bath and the programme of summer residentials for year 12 WP students, as well as activities for younger age groups. You will also be responsible for coordinating and delivering departmental outreach activities, offering your expertise in schools and supporting academic colleagues with planning and administering their events and projects.

You will need the capacity to build strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of WP events and activities. You will need to be flexible, hardworking and be able to work autonomously, as well as part of a team. 

This post is part time (18.25 hours per week) and is being offered on a fixed term contract basis of up to 2 years in duration.  The successful applicant will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

The Department of Social and Policy Sciences has a successful track record in research, teaching and impact. It currently offers undergraduate degrees in sociology, social policy, social work, international development, and criminology.
