Lead Technician (JB6603)

Based around an ethos bringing together Art, Research and Adventure, year-round programmes at The Edge and Andrew Brownsword Gallery are co-ordinated by the University of Bath’s Office for the Arts including exhibitions, performing arts presentations, talks, arts classes, family and community events. The office also supports the extra-curricular interests of Bath students engaged in the performing and visual arts.

The University of Bath’s Office for the Arts organises programmes for both public and campus engagement. We are seeking an experienced, capable and conscientious individual to lead technical delivery at our campus venues; The Edge and Andrew Brownsword Gallery.

Working to the instruction of the Programme & Exhibitions Manager and Building Manager, you will lead the technical realisation, maintenance, supervision and safe operation of exhibitions & events and venue use for commercial purpose liaising with artists and representatives and ensuring confidence on matters of technical delivery.

It is an exciting time for The Edge and Andrew Brownsword Gallery as we develop an arts and science brand for public engagement purposes, and this new role will underpin realisation by supporting a variety of delivery needs in the gallery, studio theatre, main theatre, venue project areas, rehearsal rooms and occasionally offsite. The Lead Technician also instructs and deploys casual technicians to requisite safety standards and assists in recruitment and rota’ing. Demonstration and supervision for student users of The Edge will also be necessary, linking with the society Backstage as the Arts team look to maintain a supportive ecosystem for campus arts users.

Together with the Edge's Building Manager, Facilities Manager and colleagues from the Estates Department, you will act to maintain operational environments as fit for purpose and safe for use at all times.
