Are you looking for a career in Science Support? Would you like to work in a team that ensures our researchers and technicians have access to the best equipment, facilities and resources?

Working as part of a flexible team you will be expected to carry out tasks associated with all the support functions provided to our research and teaching laboratories. These will include - washing of laboratory glassware & plastic ware (by hand and using dishwashers), waste collection and disposal, sterilisation of media and equipment using autoclaves, preparation and dispensing of growth media and other simple solutions, laundry service, equipment maintenance and portable appliance testing. You will be responsible for the cleaning of laboratory benches and shelves as well as other general housekeeping duties, and from time to time may be asked to assist with the relocation of equipment and gas cylinders. After a period of training you will be required to fulfil a range of these duties as and when necessary to meet the needs of the Faculty.

You will have excellent numeracy, verbal and written skills as evidenced by 5 GCSEs A* - C (or equivalent) and possess the ability to work accurately while following clear instructions 

You will be based in the faculty technical support team where our in house experienced technicians will train you on all duties. Manual handling training will be provided as the position will include some lifting and manoeuvring of equipment.
