Project description:
We have the opportunity for a PhD student to join the Pulmonary Immunology Group under the supervision of Dr Karl Staples, Dr C. Mirella Spalluto and Prof Tom Wilkinson. This group has a long-standing interest in the immunology of the respiratory tract with a specific focus on the response of the human lung to bacterial and viral infections.
The aim of this BBSRC iCASE studentship is to investigate role of exosomal microRNA in host-microbiota-viral interactions in the human respiratory mucosa. As this is an iCASE award, in addition to work in Southampton, this research will be complemented by a period of research at AstraZeneca campus in Gothenburg, Sweden.
