We have a unique opportunity for a Deputy Director, Technology to join Computing Services and play a key role in the team that will lead a step change in how the University embraces digital as an enabler of innovation and improved ways of working. Reporting directly to the Chief Digital Information Officer this role will contribute to the development and delivery of University-wide initiatives. 

Success in this critical leadership role demands innovation and creativity as well as the ability to form strong partnerships and productive working relationships. Substantial senior-level experience of strategic IT management in a large, complex and changing organisation is essential, as is the ability to influence and motivate people at all levels.

In addition to being a skilled advocate and negotiator, the Deputy Director must have the communication skills to drive change. A strong focus on the customer coupled with a clear understanding of how IT can deliver the vision of the university will ensure that their department meets the needs of its staff, students and stakeholders. Excellent problem-solving and project management skills are essential. Experience of managing resources and budgets is vital. 

The post holder will have core responsibility for the management of the University’s Cloud-first platform architecture, the Technology Blueprint, file server and networking infrastructure, application software development, information security, technical training, user support services and policy development regarding technology led services for students, faculties and staff. As the Technical Design Authority lead, they will oversee the governance review and analysis, coordination, and approval of software and hardware purchases and upgrades and ensure that new applications and technologies are compatible with existing systems are appropriately integrated into the University's enterprise architecture.
