The Department of Mechanical Engineering is seeking to recruit a talented and enthusiastic Lecturer. There are a number of focused research centres within the Department broadly covering the following engineering activities: Aerospace, Automotive, Design, Dynamics and Control, Electric Vehicles, Energy, Fluid Dynamics, Manufacturing, Materials, Medical, Structures and Solid Mechanics, Turbomachinery, Robotics, and Sustainability. The candidate will be expected to bring new expertise which aligns with one or more of the activities of existing research groups. In addition, the candidate should have capability to contribute to teaching. 

The applicant must be able to demonstrate the capability to conduct independent and/or collaborative research within the scope of Mechanical Engineering, obtain external research funding and publish high-quality research papers.

Applicant must provide a four-page outline of a potential research grant application and be prepared to discuss this at interview. Typically this application would be aimed at the EPSRC New Investigator Award and it would be expected that the successful lecturer submit this within the first year of the appointment. 

The appointee will lecture MEng students on undergraduate programmes and postgraduates in Mechanical Engineering. The Department puts a great deal of emphasis on its design and student-research projects, and the appointee will be expected to participate fully in these teaching activities.
