The School of Computing and Digital Technology (CDT) is seeking to appoint an undergraduate student to undertake a 12 month work placement to support its activities in Digital Media Technology specifically in Sound, VFX and Film Technology. This is a multi-faceted role where the candidate will be expected to be responsible for activities which will include developing and presenting high quality technical demonstrations of appropriate subject specific concepts. It is expected that your application will demonstrate general technical proficiency; you will be supported in the development of a range of skills to enable you to support a range of activities in areas such as electronics, motion tracking, visualisation, AV equipment, programming and digital signal processing. The role will also involve the preparing supporting resources for teaching, providing technical and classroom support, student project support as also contributing to Open Days, Applicant Taster Days and other course related events. There may also be opportunities to contribute to research and / or external activities associated with the subject areas. The position will involve some flexible working during evenings and weekends. It is anticipated that the successful candidates will be a student on a programme of study that is specific to Sound, VFX and Film Technology Courses, although students from other CDT programmes who can demonstrate equivalent knowledge are welcome to apply. Strong technical, communication, problem solving and presentation skills are essential for this role. A presentation will be required as part of the selection process.
